Cary man killed in crash in Kildeer

A Cary man died and three others were injured in a crash Monday afternoon in Kildeer at Route 12 and Quentin Road.
Thomas Wilcox, 57, of the 300 block of Candlewood Trail, was pronounced dead at Adovcate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, at 3:35 p.m. from multiple trauma from a head-on accident where he was a driver, said Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey.
Kildeer Police Chief Lou Rossi said the accident involved four vehicles and four people were injured and transported to Advocate Good Sheperd and Northwest Community Healthcare, Arlington Heights. Conditions on the other victims were not available.
Around 2:40 p.m. Monday, the Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department was dispatched to a vehicle crash with injuries.
On the way, the responding incident commander received information that three vehicles had people trapped and that needed to be extricated.
According to a press release issued by the Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department, an off-duty firefighter/paramedic was at the crash site and relayed information through the first police officer on the scene.
Two of the four vehicles had severe damage, one vehicle had moderate damage and the fourth had minor damage. Traffic on Route 12 was closed between Quentin and West Cuba roads for about 3.5 hours Monday.
