Barrington area police blotter for Feb. 14, 2013

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Barrington area police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

BARRINGTON

Burglary

A burglary to a residence was reported Feb. 5 on the 100 block of Waverly Road. According to a police report, an unknown person or persons unlocked the home’s rear door and removed electronics.

Theft

Manuel Riaz, 57, of 4425 Grove Ave., Stickney, was arrested Feb. 7 and charged with theft at 150 W. Main St. He was released and given a court date of Feb. 28 in Cook County.

Domestic Battery

Scott E. Prislinger, 58, of 26863 W. Taylor Road, Barrington, was arrested Feb. 8 and charged with felony domestic battery at his residence. He was transported to Lake County bond call.

DUI

Kathryn B. Skopec, 25, of 2013 Silverstone Drive, Carpentersville, was arrested Feb. 9 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or greater, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She also was cited for illegal lane use and driving without insurance after she was pulled over at Route 14 and Willow Road. She was released and given a court date of Feb. 28 in Cook County.

Katie L. Popnick, 27, of 105 Woody Way, Oakwood Hills, was arrested Feb. 10 and charged with driving under the influence. She also was cited for illegal lane use and driving with no driver’s license on person after she was pulled over at Route 14 and Western Avenue. She was released and given a Cook County court date of March 14.

DRUGS

Kunal K. Vashi, 27, of 440 Mahogany Court, Palatine, was arrested Feb. 9 and charged with possession of a controlled substance. He also was cited for driving on a suspended driver’s license, illegal lane use and driving without insurance after he was pulled over at 860 S. Northwest Highway. He was transported to Cook County bond call and given a $25,000 D-bond.

Jan M. Veloso, 31, of 1020 Oakland Drive, Barrington, was arrested Feb. 10 and charged with possession of marijuana at Barrington Road and Route 68. Veloso was released and given a Cook County court date of March 14.

SOUTH BARRINGTON

Domestic Battery

Oscar Garcia-Guzman, 33, of 60 Birch St., Carpentersville, was arrested Feb. 10 and charged with domestic battery in connection with an incident that occurred on a bus near the intersection of Route 72 and Route 59. A police report states that Garcia-Guzman was charged after he got into an argument with a girlfriend while at a nightclub in Chicago. The argument continued on the bus back to Carpentersville, the report stated, and Garcia-Guzman was arrested at his home after getting off the bus. Garcia-Guzman was transported to the Hoffman Estates Police Department for holding until bond court on Feb. 11.
