South Barrington police investigated a residential burglary, an attempted burglary and five reports of criminal damage to property during the last week, according to police reports.
On Oct. 29, residents of the 100 block of Wescott Lane reported multiple items were missing from their home upon their return from vacation. Purses, shoes and scarves were taken. The value of the items was not provided.
The attempted residential burglary was reported Oct. 30 from the 100 block of Meadow Court. A resident said a dead bolt lock had been tampered with. The damaged to the lock was estimated at $100.
The Millrose Restaurant, located on the 100 block of South Barrington Road, reported Oct. 22 that pumpkins were smashed and Halloween decorations were destroyed in their parking lot. The items destroyed were valued at $200.
On Oct. 23, a resident of the 100 block of Revere Drive reported that someone drove up and hit the mailbox with an object, possibly a baseball bat.
Another mailbox was smashed Oct. 23 on the 100 block of Turning Shore Drive. The post also was broken.
A mailbox also was damaged Oct. 31 on the 100 block of Revere Drive. The resident reported that this was the third time in three weeks that the mailbox was targeted.
Three driveway lanterns were damaged Oct. 31 on the 100 block of Willow Bay Drive. The resident told police that it appeared two of them were run over by a vehicle. The lanterns were valued at $300 each.
