Memorial Day Commemoration, 10 a.m., Lincolnshire

Memorial Day Ceremony, 10 a.m., Evanston
Evanston American Legion Post 42 hosts a community reflection and ceremony honoring America’s fallen heroes. Fountain Square, 1600 Orrington Ave.
River Forest Memorial Day Parade, 10 a.m., Evanston
Join the River Forest Community Center for a walk from Willard School to Keystone Park. Willard Elementary School, 2700 Hurd Ave. Free.
Northbrook Memorial Day Parade, 10:30 a.m., Northbrook
The parade route begins at the corner of Cherry Lane and Western Avenue, then heads east to Church Street and Shermer Road and continues on Shermer Road west to Meadow Road. Free popsicles available after the ceremony at the American Legion Post 791 on Shermer Road. Intersection of Cherry Lane and Western Avenue.
Memorial Day Picnic, noon, Deerfield
A Memorial Day BBQ, featuring live music by the Bourbon Street Strummers and balloon sculpting by Holly Nagel. Weinberg Community for Senior Living, 1551 Lake Cook Road.
Memorial Day Salute, 3 p.m. May 24, Arlington Heights
Metropolis’ School of the Performing Arts faculty and students perform patriotic songs to commemorate Memorial Day. Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, 111 W. Campbell St. $15-$20.
Barrington Memorial Day Parade and Services, 10 a.m., Barrington
Join Barrington residents and members of the Barrington VFW for the parade that kicks off at South Cook Street and Main Street and ends at Evergreen Cemetery with a short service to commemorate U.S. men and women who died while in military service to their country. Downtown Barrington, South Cook and East Station Streets.
Memorial Day Parade and Cemetery Service, 11 a.m., Crystal Lake
Join the Crystal Lake American Legion Post 171 for this Memorial day event. The parade begins at Crystal Lake High School, heads east on Franklin Avenue, north on Williams Street and west on Woodstock Street to Union Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Union Cemetery following the parade. Crystal Lake Central High School, 45 W. Franklin St. Free.
Memorial Day BBQ, 11 a.m., Park Ridge
Celebrate Memorial Day with music, games, jump horse, hot dogs, burgers, brats and more. Park Ridge Presbyterian Church, 1300 W. Crescent Ave.
Memorial Day Services and Program, 8:30 a.m., La Grange
The day begins with a memorial ceremony at Lyons Township High School’s north campus at 8:30 a.m. There will be a ceremonial bell ringing honoring those La Grange area residents who gave their lives in service to our country from the Civil War to the present time. Following this service, there will brief memorial services at the following locations: Parkholm at 9:15 a.m., Lyonsville at 10 a.m., St. John’s at 10:45 a.m., Hodgkins at 11:00 a.m. and Countryside at 11:45 a.m. The final ceremony is at the La Grange American Legion Post at noon. Western Springs Memorial Day Parade, 10 a.m., Western Springs
Local residents are invited to the annual parade hosted by VFW Post 10778. The parade begins near the Theatre of Western Springs and ends at the Tower Green with a brief ceremony. All nonpolitical community organizations and scout units are invited to march. Downtown Western Springs, 914 Hillgrove Ave.
Memorial Day Ceremony, 10 a.m., Elmwood Park
Head to Veteran’s Garden for the ceremony which includes a dedication of the LCPL Nickolas Daniels Memorial honoring residents who gave their lives serving the country. Elmwood Park Water Department, 11 Conti Parkway.
