A bank robber jumped onto a teller’s counter and demanded money at the Associated Bank in Third Lake on Thursday, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Bank security cameras captured the theft, which occurred at 10:47 Thursday, showing the suspect wearing a motorcycle helmet and a backpack.
The garb was similar to that worn by actor Ryan Gosling in the 2012 movie “A Place Beyond the Pines,” in which his character also robs banks by jumping onto the counter.
The Third Lake suspect’s motorcycle helmet had a dark visor covering the suspect’s face. The suspect, described as a white male, about 5-foot-8-inches tall with a slim build, was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue pants, camouflage boots, white latex gloves and sunglasses.
Police said the bank employee complied with demands from the suspect, who also put bank employees into a bathroom.
The suspect fled the area in an unknown direction, with a black Puma drawstring backpack filled with cash, the sheriff’s office said.
No weapon was used or implied during the robbery.
Third Lake is located near Grayslake and Gurnee.
