“Showboat’ lecture at Garlands of Barrington

Jeffrey Sherman, a volunteer with the Lyric Opera Chicago Opera Education Corps will give a lecture on “Show Boat” at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, for the Barrington Chapter Lyric Opera of Chicago at the Garlands of Barrington, 1000 Garlands Lane, Barrington. Sherman’s presentation will introduce the Lyric’s production of “Show Boat” (music by Jerome Kern and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II), opening Feb. 12. Following the lecture will be a high tea in the Garlands’ Robie Lounge. Cost for the afternoon is $28 for members, $32 for guests.
