Barrington area police blotter for Sept. 10 - Sept. 17, 2012

The following incidents were listed in the official reports of the Barrington area police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest by police does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
Barrington Hills
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A mailbox was damaged Sept. 9 on the 100 block of Spring Creek Road. A resident reported that he called police after hearing a loud crash from outside. The cost to replace the mailbox was estimated at $300.
South Barrington
THEFT
An Apple iPhone was stolen Sept. 17 from the AMC movie theater on 175 Studio Drive. The police report states that a complainant left his phone inside the theater and it was gone when he returned a short time later to retrieve it. The complainant attempted to locate the phone using a GPS website, which showed the phone to be near the first block of Ambrose Lane, but the phone was then turned off and not located. The value of the phone is estimated at $299.
Police investigated a report Oct. 10 that 17 push-up bras were stolen from a table near the door of Victoria’s Secret in the Arboretum Mall. According to the police report, an employee stated that two females were involvced in the theft. The value of the bras was estimated at $862.
Barrington
DUI
Edmund S. Kreis, 54, of 14 W. Penny Road, South Barrington, was arrested Sept. 8 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He also was cited for failing to signal, an illegal turn, illegal lane use and driving without insurance. Kreis was taken into custody near the intersection of Barrington Road and Hillside Avenue. He was released on bond and given a Cook County court date of Oct. 23.
Michael P. Karasch, 42, of 1591 Foster Circle, Algonquin, was arrested Sept. 8 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He also was cited for illegal lane use. Karasch was taken into custody near the intersection of Main and Raymond streets. He was released on bond and given a Cook County court date of Oct. 10.
Sara R. Bartsch, 26, of 418 New Haven Drive, Cary, was arrested Sept. 9 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia. She also was cited for speeding, driving without insurance, driving without a driver’s license and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. Bartsch was taken into custody near the intersection of Route 14 and Hillside Road. She was released on bond and given a Cook County court date of Oct. 10 for the DUI charge. She has a court date of Oct. 18 for the drug paraphernalia charge.
Vernon C. Heinz II, 44, of 3606 Falcon Court, Rolling Meadows, was arrested Sept. 16 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08. He also was cited for speeding and driving on an expired driver’s license. Heinz was taken into custody near the intersection of Route 14 and Hart Road. Heinz was released on bond and given a Cook County court date of Oct. 23.
DRUGS
Anthony G. Warren, 35, of 6115 Acorn Lane, Cary, was arrested Sept. 7 and charged with possession of marijuana near the intersection of Liberty Street and North Avenue. Warren was released on bond and given a Cook County court date of Oct. 23.
Timothy D. Rast, 54, of 243 Linden Road, Barrington, was arrested Sept. 15 and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 652 Elm Road. Rast was released on bond and given a Cook County court date of Oct. 23.
