Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble stages ‘Nutcracker’

BARRINGTON — The Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble put on three performances last week of “The Nutcracker” at Barrington High School.
Opening night for the 18th year of the dance ensemble’s two-act ballet was Nov. 30.
The cast, consisting of about 90 performers from the Barrington area, also performed encores Dec. 1 and 2.
The production features elaborate costuming and staging, including a breathtaking snow scene. Guest artists from national and Chicago regional dance companies perform lead soloist roles and are joined by more than 75 suburban Chicago student dancers.
Sailor Streeter of Barrington, an eighth-grader at St. Anne’s School, and Victoria Van Hollen of Lake Barrington, an eighth-grader at Barrington Middle School-Station Campus, shared the role of Clara.
