BARRINGTON — Gary Fencik, who helped the Chicago Bears win the 1985 Superbowl, will return to Barrington High School Monday night.
Fencik’s appearance is the first event in the high school’s Alumni Legends series, which was created by the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation.
Mark Minner, a 2008 BHS alum who went on to Purdue University, will introduce and interview Fencik during the program. Minner was involved in BHS-TV during his high school years.
“Hopefully, we’ll get students as well as people in the community to come,” said Educational Foundation member Gary Schmitz.
The Alumni Legends program is not strictly for BHS alums who went into athletic careers. Schmitz said the Educational Foundation is looking to bring in graduates who have excelled in all career paths.
“We’re going to invite former students who went on to careers in all sorts of different areas,” he said.
Fencik graduated from BHS in 1972.
