Update: Autopsy inconclusive for Barrington infant

An autopsy on an 8-month-old Barrington girl who died Wednesday was inconclusive pending further testing, and while police continue to investigate, they are releasing no information on the case.

Rescue crews responded to a call of a deceased individual at 12:07 p.m. Wednesday on the 100 block of South Hager Avenue in Barrington, according to a statement from Barrington police. 

The 8-month-old girl, Mya Edwards, was pronounced dead at the home at 12:19 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

An autopsy Thursday was inconclusive pending toxicology and medical test results, according to police. The results should take 6 to 8 weeks.

Barrington police and the Cook County Major Case Assistance Team are investigating, but no further information is being provided.

The state Department of Child and Family Services did not immediately return a call for comment.
