If you're planning on running in the Chicago Marathon, there's a new way runners will be chosen. According to the Chicago Sun-Times:

"Bank of America Chicago Marathon runners will be chosen by lottery this year unless they qualify for a guaranteed entry in the 26.2-mile race.

Participants who qualify for guaranteed entries include charity runners, legacy finishers, wheelchair athletes and runners who qualify with previous marathon times, according to the marathon’s website.

Last year, Chicago Marathon’s website was overwhelmed with entries, thwarting some runners registration attempts.

Anyone can enter the lottery between noon March 5 and noon April 7, according to the website, and participants will be selected at random. All entrants will be notified by email of their selection status on April 14."
