PALATINE — A Union Pacific Northwest Line Metra train is moving again, three hours after it fatally struck a person Friday evening in northwest suburban Palatine.
Train No. 651, scheduled to arrive in Crystal Lake at 7:08 p.m., struck the pedestrian around 6:50 p.m. at Baldwin Road in Palatine, said Metra spokesman Michael Gillis.
The train, now three and a half hours behind schedule, was on the move as of 10:08 p.m. but will not run past Barrington this evening, according to Metra.
Other Union Pacific/Northwest Line trains are seeing residual delays between 35 minutes and three hours as of late Friday, Metra said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed a person was killed in the incident, but was not releasing the person’s name Friday night.
Palatine police also responded, an officer said.
